With a (mostly) remote team, Loom is a must-have to collaborate and communicate. Loom enables our team to record videos to share updates, explain complex concepts, or provide feedback, eliminating the need for lengthy email threads or scheduling multiple meetings. This is especially helpful for the different timezones that we have, with marketing spread across East & West Coast USA, Europe, and now New Zealand and Australia.

Loom is literally the best free (or depending on your team size) tool that I have found in recent years honestly. I have a consulting practice on the side where we work in multiple timezones. Im not the best with words or explaining things over email, and im a much more visual person. being able to show somehow how to do something rather than explain it via email is HUGE. Its literall creating the office culture vibe over video, and its exactly what i need to help scale my consulting while also help provide training at my current job.

Our organization currently uses Loom to generate marketing materials, customer tutorials, and internal communication that does not necessitate a meeting or is better executed asynchronously. It fits a niche for us but does so incredibly well. In the past, I have also used Loom as part of a coaching program to teach specific lessons and provide re-watchable resources for students, and to facilitate a more intuitive onboarding process for incoming clients.

We use Loom to simplify some communication with our clients and our internal and external teams. Any feedback, bug, issue, etc. we need to communicate to our stakeholders, which needs a lot of written text or other formatted media, is done using videos with talk-throughs via Loom. We also use Loom to provide video guides to our clients to navigate any tool or product.
  • They have various integrations and apps, so using it on any platform is easy.
  • They have an easy recording feature - so we don't need training to use Loom.
  • Editing the video once it's made is suer easy on their backend tool - so we don't need to get the video completely right while recording.
  • Their folder system makes it easy to organize videos.
  • The transcripts feature isn't accurate and captures incorrect words.
Any communication that needs to be executed can be done via Loom.
Loom simplifies communication by providing video and audio inputs, which minimizes the amount of time it takes to communicate something and reduces any potential misunderstandings for us.

We use Loom quite extensively in our day to day operations -
1. We have Software for which bugs, feature explanations, and design walkthroughs for our internal team are communicated through Loom videos.
2. We also service clients' development requirements, for which we use Loom to communicate development feedback and bugs using Loom.
3. We also teach the service clients how to use certain tools/elements online, which we use Loom to document.
4. We have recently started using Loom for product walk-throughs as well.

Instead of typing emails or tasks to my team, I try as often as possible to create a quick screencast video and send a link to watch it. This saves me so much time typing out long emails and it eliminates the chances of misunderstandings in the communications because I can talk through and show what I mean instead of praying that if I just type enough of an explanation the recipient will understand me precisely. There are a plenty of good screencast video apps out there and we’ve tried most. But we use Loom around here because it’s the best. It lets you combine video of yourself speaking in the corner with the screen if you like, take still screenshots and (MUCH more).
If I had to guess this gives me back an extra 3-4 hours of time each week.
  • They're constantly improving the app, adding features and fixing bugs.
  • The agility to go from screen recording to share is insane.
  • It's free for the basic version and very affordable for the premium.
  • They've got great foldering system that lets us create shareable folders for client videos, team videos, and more.
  • The still screenshot feature should let us edit/mark up the images.
  • I work on 3 X monitors and the desktop version of Loom still can't seem to know that I always want to record on the screen from which I open the app. Short of that, it should ask us what screen we want to record on instead of making us catch the fact that it's set to record on some other screen. This causes me to have to stop the recording and restart because it was recording the wrong screen.
  • You can't yet transfer a video seamlessly between workspaces. This causes you to have to download and then re-upload to the other workspace if you happen to work for numerous companies using Loom.
Here are a few ways I use Looms in my business:
  1. When assigning tasks to my team. Fire up a loom, talk through what I want, show examples. BOOM!
    (Oh, the time saved and mistakes avoided.)
  2. When reporting issues or asking for support from software companies.
    (Oh, the back and forth requests for more details, skipped.)
  3. When giving revision requests.
    (Video is THE fastest possible way to describe what’s working and what’s not about a design/page/whatever.)
  4. For creating quick step-by-step training videos as documentation for systems we build for our clients in my consulting business.

I use [Loom] to capture short product tours and send to clients. It is also useful in asynchronously communicating with prospects without having to get on a meeting. I've seen [Loom] being used by my team members for similar reasons, other team members in tech and QA for capturing product bugs.

Loom helps us provide video screen capture of workflows or issues in the product for both QA and current users/customers of our product. The shareable link it creates provides easy access along with microphone capture to aid in live commentary for these screen captures.

I use Loom almost daily for internal communications with my team, and for external communications with a customer to add that extra mile customer service and delight. Video and Audio can create a ton of clarity for the viewer on the exact steps to replicate a bug or to accomplish a detailed workflow. It saves me time from writing out large emails, and is a more enjoyable medium for digesting that information anyways.

Most of our sales team uses Loom in some capacity to deliver information to our partners and prospects. This can be useful for us as we represent accounts across multiple verticals and time zones. Sometimes our pitches or demo walk-throughs cannot be done in person or in a live web conference, so recording through Loom has been an incredible benefit for our team.
  • Delivers trainings to colleagues or partners
  • Delivers recorded walk-throughs of demos of our products
  • Being able to copy a video so that the end user doesn't see comments from other users -- ie., demo/pitch that isn't specific to one person
  • Give more benefits to the pro version. Being able to add a thumbnail seems like a dumb reason to pay for the service.
I really like to use Loom for delivering content to partners and prospects, but I would not let it take the place of or remove real-time feedback via video conferencing. At some point it's necessary to be live-in-person with a partner.

Loom is used to record and share screen capture videos in a quick way to support our development processes. The videos are recorded by revisors of game design mechanics to capture the feedback in video and audio as they play our game that is in development. The video stays in the Loom cloud platform, and is shared by one of our project management tools.
  • It's quick and easy to start recording.
  • A great cloud platform integrated to share the videos.
  • Password protection of the videos.
  • Integration with project management tools like ClickUp and Notion.
  • I had problems when recording long videos.
  • Sometimes, when recording, a huge amount of computer performance is needed.
  • The online video player of Loom is not as good as the more consolidated platforms (ex.: Youtube, Vimeo).
Loom is well suited for scenarios where you want to record and share screen-captured videos in a quick and easy way. Its main feature is that almost after finishing the recording your video will be available in the cloud, so you can share it with your collaborators quickly. It's less appropriate when you have to record long videos.

We use Loom in two capacities, the first being training for clients. We use it to screengrab video of how to do very specific tasks in platforms like Infusionsoft and Google Ads. The second thing we use it for is to prove or show what we did in a specific order to get the results we did on a project to our clients. Since it is your computer, it is easier to maneuver instead of trying to show and tell on another machine.

  • You cannot draw when you are recording so it is hard to bring attention to a particular area of your screen.

Loom is not intended for presentations that would be considered client ready. Its main suggested use is for internally used training or explainer videos. Using the tool to bring attention to a specific order of operations on a particular platform that might not have an existing explainer video on it.

I primarily use Loom to create quick "how-to" videos that have a very focused, time-sensitive requirement. "Here's how to do this particular thing." It's particularly well-suited to that sort of quick & dirty, one-off type of video instruction. Since I have the option of including my built-in video camera as part of the video itself, it helps add that personal touch - the "face" - to the video.
  • Integrated right into Chrome - If I want to make a screen-capture video of a particular window in Chrome, I just start the Loom extension from within that window. It automatically records the entire window, my audio, computer audio and/or my video camera. In other words, it makes recording a screen capture video fast and almost automatic.
  • I like that it automatically saves it to my Loom account profile and also provides a URL I can send to people. I think the utility of this feature is pretty obvious. The sequence is 1. Start loom 2. click the RECORD button 3. record 4. click the STOP button 5. copy and paste the URL which loom automatically generates.
  • The way they have chosen to provide online organizing of my videos is pretty well executed. I can create folders and move related videos into those folders. This becomes really important when you start creating a lot of videos.
  • Loom is great for what it does - super quick & dirty screen capture videos. If you want more control over your video production, then the reality is you probably need a more robust tool. It has very rudimentary sound and video editing abilities, and no titling ability. Frankly, I don't consider this lack of features an issue, because I use Loom ONLY for what it is good at and don't expect it to do more.
  • It doesn't do 16:9 format videos. (Unless they've added that feature since I last used it.) That's not a deal-breaker for me, but it could be for some folks.,
If you have a user having trouble with something on their web browser, Loom is an awesome way to create video instructions, drop it in an email and send it to them. In other words, you can provide asynchronous video support.

If production quality is less important to you than being able to crank out a bunch of videos in a hurry, there's not much that can beat Loom.
